Fibers are a basic wasteland resource which are used to craft rope and a variety of armors. There are also High Quality Fibers, used to make higher-end gear. Not all plant stalks yield fiber, so mouse-over a plant stalk to find the right ones. You'll need a Knife or Combat Knife in your Inventory for this to work, but a Switchblade or Wakizashi Blade will work too.
Obtaining
- Fiber plants can be found in random encounters, mostly in mountains and forested lands.
- It can be obtained from disassembling armors
- You can harvest fibers inside Hub, Klamath, Modoc, Vault City, Gecko, and New Adytum
- Can be harvested at Tobacco Farm
You can farm it in outpost DIY base- You need a knife in order to cut it from orange plants
- You need to use any type of knife for gathering
- You need 3 AP for each cut, and you will get up to 2 fibers per cut
With a knife of any kind (Knife, Combat Knife, Switchblade, or Wakizashi Blade), click on a fiber plant to cut some fiber from it. You should see a message that you've obtained some fiber from the plant, or that the plant is out of fiber. Where you find fiber stalks in towns, those stalks usually yield 20 fibers maximum, and grows back over time. If you get less than 20, it likely means it has not fully grown back yet since the last time someone harvested. To find the fiber stalks in Hub, run down the main street to the farm fields. There are nine fiber stalks mixed in amongst the other plant stalks there.
