With Awareness, you are given detailed information about any critter you examine. You see their exact hit points and information about any weapon they are equipped with.

Awareness is a support perk.

Where to obtain (Spoiler)

It can be obtained during a conversation with Tandi's son a leather-armor-wearing NPC in Dusty's Cantina, NCR.

Upon hovering the cursor over any critter, a player who gained Awareness is presented with the following information: the number of its hit points, whether it is injured or not, the name of the weapon it is wielding, the armor type it is wearing.
