Guide Sandbox
A new comprehensive startup guide is being planned. This page could be used now as-is by a new player, but only down to "STOP". It's still being tested and changed.
The intention is to enhance a new player's startup experience, first by providing a structured route to start a lead-in character. The route is clear direction through easier tasks, and into some basic crafting and bartering all around the Hub area. Then he goes north and abroad and returns with a car, more Support Perks, and uses the car to run water around the map for pay and more XP. He gets stronger and takes on tougher challenges. He sets up a network of private locations all over the map, and eventually sets up a private base which becomes his personal starting point for additional characters.
Then he prepares gear piles so additional characters can start more quickly. A leveling build will be used to send new characters straight to a base, grab a pile of gear and a vehicle all prepared by the lead character, and proceed to power-level by hunting in the desert.
Use a leveling build to get additional characters to target levels, and use the Re-Roll feature to transfer those levels to specialized fighters. Then try fighting any enemies solo, like Gunrunners Mutant Hideout, and California Raiders. The new player will have a firm grasp of the game's basics.

- Go to forum, find and get FallCraftPlus.zip, set that up, close/re-launch client
- Set combat mode to Real-Time (trust me) by using ~combatmode rt command

- Get the rest of your ropes from the workbench, and sell them to Claire - might take 2 more trips
- Scour Old Town for items and resources, but do not become overweight
- Search 25 containers for items, and Scavenge 34 nodes for resources (check the pool table too!)
- When you find Spiked Knuckles, arm them in Slot 1. When you find a Radio, enable reception on channel 0
- Plan to keep: All spears, 1 Tool, all Scorpion tails, 1 Radio, 1 Spiked Knuckles, all hides and pelts, 1 Hatchet, 1 Crowbar
- Plan to sell: all ammo and food items, Elvis paintings, excess tools, radios, and lockpicks
- As your Carry Weight reaches its limit, stop and exit Old Town to Market area
- In Hub Market, get Fruit from tree, Complete Far Go Scout 440xp +120 Caps, get Hello City quest
- Maltese Falcon: talk to drunk 110xp, and bartender 1375xp, and get Band quest from Mick
- Exit Market south, re-enter Hub Old Town, talk to girl 770xp and +10 Hub Karma, Level 4
- Distribute Skill Points: OD 100 and Repair 41
- Return to Market and scour the place for items and resources, sell some to Beth and keep some - same as above
- Talk with Gun Store Beth for 110xp, and sell misc items
- Talk with Mitch in General Store 137xp
- Run out west to the clinic, and speak with Dr B for 82xp
- Get the Doctor's quest, The Anguished Man (+1100xp)
- Run north from the clinic and enter the Post Office, talk with Hubber +1100xp and +7 Hub Karma

- Exit Heights, go to Water Merchants, talk with Hubber in church +1100xp and +7 Hub Karma

- By now you might have enough stuff to make a Folded Tent. Find whatever you need and craft a tent 209xp
- Return to Dr Burhnefletch, complete Anguished Man +1100xp and tons of Karma
- Exit to map, Enter Hub main, feed Shren 55xp, get Way of the Fruit, talk to priest 550xp, get Old Traditions
- Run down street to house above fiber fields, talk with Sad Dog Owner, give RadAway +550xp
- Exit Hub to map, find a place nearby, like in the top right corner of Zone 30:40, enter an empty random encounter
- Inside an empty random encounter, use your Folded Tent. You now have a safe place to keep stuff
- Drop all items at new tent, except keep Caps, all Spears, 1 Knife, 1 Lighter, and 1 Radio
- Go straight north 4 zones to Junktown. On your way there, notice small tent on map, avoid all encs
- Get report from Lex, buy Small Guns 1 Profession from Boyce, do not read the Small Guns skill book yet!
- Sell spears to Sassy Givens, run to boxing ring west of Skum Pitt, talk with Ronnie about the Band 275xp, Level 6
- Choose Toughness and distribute Skill Points: Close Combat 128, Doctor 16
- Exit Junktown north, and head south 5 zones past Hub and enter Gunrunners 150xp
- Go inside and tell Marshal you want practice punching people in the face (+10 CC)
- Now read the Guns-n-Bullets Skill Book you received from Boyce +10 Small Guns Skill
- Speak with Marshal some more to progress on Gunrunner Delivery quest
- Exit to map, pass over Warehouse and head south to New Adytum (+150xp)
- Talk with Dyer to get report, and ask him to show you the Salvagers' location
- Search ~19 places all around New Adytum for misc items (a few are underground)
- Exit to map, go to Salvagers, talk with bald Regulator to "find Joseph" +550xp
- Move boxes for Salvagers (+330xp) to get paid 250 Caps
- Exit to map, go to Boneyard Library +150xp and talk with Nicole to get Gunrunner report
- At Library, go downstairs and talk with Therese to become Educated
- Head west to Tobacco Farm and cut as many Fibers as you can
- Back to Hub Old Town: talk with Jacob about Gunrunners
- Use the Workbench to craft all ropes and sell to Claire - make multiple trips if necessary.
- Then talk with Sad Wife 275xp, Level 7
- Distribute Skill Points: Close Combat 130, Doctor 36
- Exit to Market, Hello City 1320xp (Far Go 12, Hub 99)
- Return to Maltese Falcon, let Mick know Ronnie is on board
- Find a lighter, and talk with Hope on stage to start her quest (A Light in the Darkness)
- Go to Police Station, speak with Sheriff Hayden, get the victim's name and occupation
- Speak next with Detective Cwan, then with Detective Spade, then go to Hub's underground bar
- Speak with Vasquez the bartender, return to Hayden to report the good news +1100xp, Hub Criminals -25
- Talk with Hope to officially "close the case", and you throw your hat away
- Exit Hub, drop all extra items at your tent, and go visit the lonely Tent in the Wasteland location nearby Hub
- Get quest from the wife in the tent, to clear the rats from their farm
- Exit to map, return to Gunrunners, talk with Marshal about the deal with Jacob. Exit to map
- Now go to the tent family's farm and kill all the rats so they can move back in 1056xp, Level 8
- Distribute Skill Points: CC 136, Doctor 50
- Return to Hub Old Town and speak with Jacob to finalize his deal with Gunrunners +825xp (Hub 244)
- Talk with Traveling Merchant in Hub's Market, get Gecko Skinning and pay for location of geckos 165xp
- Talk with vendor in Hub to get quest to Find Iguana Pete's Missing Son
- Return to farm family, tell wife the good news, get folded tent, talk with Cira, something bad happens 1100xp
- Go to gecko hunting location, drink beer and hunt all geckos with Spiked Knuckles or best weapon 1965xp
- Loot containers, return to Hub Old Town, sell Metal Armor to Jacob, and gather 6 eparts and 60 fibers
- Sell pelts to Traveling Merchant
- Go to Junktown mine and speak with the Supervisor inside to gather stuff for him
- Gather stuff and return to supervisor 6600xp + 3000 Caps, Level 9

- Exit sewer and get message quest from Elmer. Read the data Tape
- Run to east room in Elmer's building, find hole in floor, go down into vault
- Use elevator to go to Level 3, find working computer, run the right program, send data 1100xp Level 8
- Exit the vault, exit town to map, go to highlighted location nearby, defeat your attacker 550xp
- Exit to map, go north 12 zones and east 3 zones to Vault 15, enter vault, kill all rats inside 1342xp
- Access working computer terminal (no need to use elevator) and run the program 1100xp
- Use Science Skill to harvest at least 3 Electronic Parts while you're there
- Exit to map, head north to Shady Sands. Enter town (+150xp) and talk with Iguana Mikey
- Get fetch-quest from Buster, and run to the Rawhide Saloon
- Get smokes from Mira, and get work from Mira and Nora, and talk with Lenny about Son of Bob
- Go into town, deliver letter to Dorothy. Run to medical research building above hospital
- Pay Dr Henry for medical training: Doctor Profession 1 (-1500 Caps), and read the First Aid Skill Book (+6 FA)
- Get assignment to set up a deal between Dr Henry and Dr Jubilee at Hospital
- Run across the street into Dusty's Cantina and deliver money to Dusty
- Ask Dusty what's on the menu, and eat some bar food +1375xp
- Go into the hospital and talk with Dr Jubilee about the deal
- Report back to Dr Henry to close their medical arrangement, accept Caps as payment +660xp
- Go back to the Rawhide and report to Nora (+220xp) and Mira (+825xp)
- Sell some items to Mira as needed to avoid being overweight, and return to Buster (+880xp) and +300 Caps
- Sell shotguns and armor to Seymour across the street from Buster +2000 Caps?
- Exit to map, go next-door to NCR Train Station, talk with Ranger Captain +2200xp and put on that new armor!
- From NCR Train Station, travel northwest to Broken Hills in Zone 29:17, get Strong Back perk from Francis +23 Carry Weight
- Exit to map, go straight north 11 zones to Vault City, go into clinic, get Medical Investigation quest from Doctor
- During daylight hours (check Pip-Boy), get a Day Pass, and access the terminal in the small Information Center 2200xp
- You may have to wait until morning if you're there in the middle of the night, so Scavenge or take a break
- Go to Gecko, enter Scrapyard, talk with Skeeter, read the data tape
- Talk with Skeeter again to ask if he has anything for you (main quest) 1100xp

- Exit town, enter Vault City's Train Station next-door, buy 3 tickets, board train to Shady Sands (NCR)
- You may have to wait a while for the train - if so, talk with 4 people there as part of this quest
- When you arrive in NCR Train Station, hurry in talking with 4 people about the Medical Investigation, and board train to Boneyard
- At Boneyard Train Station, hurry in talking with 4 people, and board train to San Francisco 150xp
- At San Fran Train Station, talk with 4 people, and then exit to map, enter town via Tanker entrance 150xp
- Run into bar and talk with Charlie about the Wasteland Band, and exit to map 275xp
- Travel east past the mining site nearby, and move 7 zones north by 2 east to Gordon's Gas Station
- Enter Gordon's place and get Ranger perk, then exit to map
- From Gordon's Gas Station, head straight north 7 zones to Redding and enter town via Mine entrance 150xp
- Go into the Last Gasp Saloon and speak with Josh about how to bury people properly 2200xp
- Go next-door and talk with Dan McGrew, and get Pack Rat (CW 171)
- Find a Mysterious Stranger in a tent nearby and deliver the part, exit to map 1320xp
- Travel diagonally northwest 5 zones to Den, enter town via East Side, go into Mom's Diner, eat food 1375xp
- Exit to map, move 3 zones diagonally northwest to find Klamath, enter Trapper Town
- Run up to trappers near the burning barrel, and ask a child there about Light Step perk, exit back to map
- From Den, start traveling straight back toward Vault City. Find Modoc along the way - keep going
- If you did not talk with 4 people at the Vault City Train Station, go there and do that next
- Return to the clinic in Vault City, and complete the Medical Investigation 4125xp +900 Caps
- Careful to follow their strict daytime-only rules, use your Day Pass to enter the gate in Vault City again
- Find Councilwoman McClaire in the FLC bank and dialogue about the main quest 1320xp, exit to map
- From Vault City, travel southwest to The Den in Zone 20:18, and enter 2nd Street and go into the Shark's Club
- Inside the Shark's Club, use the stairs to go up 2 floors, talk with Bishop, exit Reno to map
- Go to new map location (west), drink a beer if you have one, weapon to Slot 1, and go in ready for a fight
- Defeat your enemies 1650xp
- It's time to head home - hit the map, and start walking through the desert back to Hub
- Stop along the way when you get close to Junktown and set up your available tent at the mine
- Enter Hub via main entrance, go to church and report to Fr O'Shaughnessy 3850xp, Level 11
- Distribute Skill Points: CC 150
- Run south from the church into the farm fields and cut some fiber - only need 10 or so
- Enter Hub's Market, go into bar and talk again with Mick about the band 1265xp
- Exit to map, head over to Necropolis, enter Watershed and report to Elmer 3300xp
- Enter The Heights in Hub and pay the initiation fee to join the gang -200 Caps
- Recruit 4 Street Punks for them. Use gecko pelts and fiber to craft 3 more leather jackets
- Report back to gang leader 1100xp and get next task to bribe the police with 1200 Caps
- Tell Johnny you have the money, and go to Sheriff Hayden and hand him the bribery money -1200 Caps
- Report to Johnny 1100xp and get next task to provide the weapons and ammo for their heist
- You need to craft a sledgehammer next, so Scavenge around Hub enough to find 1 Wood and 1 Metal Part
- Exit Hub and go to your Safe House at Junktown mine, drop all gear except Radio, craft 1 Sledgehammer, and hit the mine
- Work the mine until you have 60 or more Iron and 60 or more Minerals, and return to your Safe House
- You will be overweight - that's okay - you don't have far to go
- At your private workbench, craft the weapons for the gang's heist, Level 12
- You'll probably be short on Junk here, so go into Hub and gather Junk from the barrels
- Need Wood? Grab a hatchet and go into randoms in Zone 29:36 just a few pixels away until you find the right trees
- Choose Lifegiver and distribute Skill Points: Doc 92

- The 10mm SMG might be a problem. You cannot craft it yet, so delay that for now
- The next big goal is to get 15,000 Caps, so you can buy a Buggy in New Reno
- Go back to the mine and get as many resources as you can. Get Junk from Hub as much as possible
- Craft as many Combat Shotguns as you can, keep the ones with good bonuses, and sell the rest to Mick in Hub's General Store
- Once you get 15k Caps, go to New Reno, and buy a Buggy car. Drive back to your Hub tent and park
- Put car key in Slot 2 and Radio in Slot 1, strip down and put all other items in Buggy trunk
- Go into Hub's Water Merchants and talk with Mere - get the job to run water barrels - take all 3 at once
- Use your Buggy to run the first water barrel to Marcus in Broken Hills 1320xp
- Head to Gecko, park near the town but not in the town, enter main entrance, run into The Harp bar, talk with Keith 444xp
- Back to car, go to Den, park next to town, enter Den via East Side, run into The Hole bar, deliver water barrel 1320xp
- Back to car, go to San Francisco, park car next to town, use Folded Tent to make a safe House here
- Run into town, deliver water barrel 1320xp
- Go back to Hub, park Buggy at Hub tent, enter via Market, report to Mick 1650xp
- Go to Water Merchants, get paid for running water barrels, and get 3 more barrels to run 3300xp
- Deliver water barrel to Broken Hills 1320xp
- Deliver water barrel to Frankie in The Hole bar in Den 1320xp
- Deliver water barrel in San Fran 1320xp, and go across the street to the doctor, get Faster Healing support perk
- Back to Hub, report to Mere 3300xp
- Complete water barrel runs (7260xp per run) until you reach Level 14

- Use some caps to buy Skill Books: 2 Electronics (Repair), and spend the rest on Guns-n-Bullets
- Read all the Skill Books you have. 2 Repair books + Repair 88 should = Repair 100
- On your next Water Barrel run, stop in Vault City to speak with Councilwoman McClaire 2750xp
- After delivering water to Den, stop in Redding Mine area and talk again with Stranger in tent 1320xp
- When finishing this water run, stop in Necropolis Watershed to get Dead Man Walking
- Also talk with Boyce in Junktown to pay for the 2nd level of Small Guns professional training
- Now you can craft that 10mm SMG, but you might need to do some Scavenging in Old Town to find 1 Good Metal Part
- The last thing to get for the gang to run their heist is the .223 FMJ ammo
- Find some for sale by any of the area vendors: Jacob, Beth, Mitch, Taylor, GR, Salvagers
- Alternately, watch out for anyone selling Advanced Gunpowder so you can craft your own .223 FMJ
- Visit the Boneyard Library too, and speak with Katrina 3300xp
- Return to your tent or car, gather up all the gear for the gang to do their heist, and go to Hub Heights
- Tell Johnny you have all the weapons and ammo they need 825xp
- Run the heist 1430xp, Level 17
- Distribute Skill Points:

- You are getting ready to go hunt random lockers, and find loot including Skill Books and Blueprints
- Locker Hunting is smooth with Light Step (Traps 50), Doctor 100, and Lockpick 125 or more

- Get quest to bring back scorpion eggs, craft some Antidote before going on the quest
- Exit to map, go to scorpion cave, enter, kill all scorpions, get all eggs, return to doctor
- Speak with Meloy to get location of Toxic Caves, but exit dialogue early - before tanker quest
- Visit New Adytum again and fix Montag's water pump +990xp and +100 LA Citizens
- Repair generators for Thomas at Power House in Junktown
