Addiction means that a character needs some consumable (ex; drug, drink,) to be used regularly or the character will suffer a penalty from withdrawal. So when a character uses Psycho for example, and becomes addicted to it, he suffers once the Psycho wears off.
The addiction lasts for 1 real hour (character must be logged in) and reduces AP by 1 and can be temporarily alleviated by taking more of whatever caused the addiction. The causes of addictions can be seen in the character's profile screen on the Karma tab.
