As you explore Quests, many of them populate a list in your Pip-Boy. This allows you to check a quest's status, and be reminded of what to do next. PvE tasks like Quests and Jobs will appear in the list, and start accumulating there as you explore more of The World. The viewing area is only so big, so the list extends beyond the bottom of the Pip-Boy, and you can see more of the list by scrolling down.

When you first open the Pip-Boy's quest list in the default interface (press P twice), you'll see the top 22 quests, but you can see up to 40 records at a time by scrolling down enough, assuming you're an active Explorer.

There is a frustrating bug here when clicking a quest after you've scrolled down. The info you read will not actually be about the quest you clicked; it will tie to a different quest in your list.

As long as you are scrolled to the top, the info will match correctly, but as soon as you scroll down even a single record, something is off, and it can seem impossible to ever again access important information about the status of some quests.

This is one of many Known Bugs. Developers know about it, and we can hope for a fix some day. Meanwhile, there is a work-around...

The Fix

  • Step 1: In that screen where quests are listed, make sure you're scrolled all the way to the top to show "Status"
  • Step 2: Scroll down 1 by 1, record by record, and count how many records you had to scroll down to reach the quest you need
    • This only works if you counted until your desired quest is at the very bottom of the list
  • Now scroll back up by half that many records
    • For even numbers, click on whatever quest is showing at the very bottom of the screen
    • For odd numbers, scroll up 1 more record, and click on whatever quest is the second-to-last on the screen
