"Trading and trade-related tasks. The ability to get better prices for items you sell, and lower prices for items you buy."
Barter is a passive skill that determines the price of items. Your barter skill does not affect the prices of items that merchants specialize in. For example, Dr Jubilee in Shady Sands specializes in Drugs, so buying a Super Stimpak from him will always cost 310 caps, no matter what your skill is.
Your reputation does matter on prices, high reputation makes your prices better.
Note: Each character can read up to 10 Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor Skill Books to increase Barter skill by 6 Skill Points per book.
Note: Maximum Barter skill is 150. You can attempt to make it higher but it will go back to 150 and give you your points back.
