Knockback is the ability that a weapon may have to knock your target down while at the same time pushing it over the ground, be it because of the perk of that name or the type of damage they inflict.
The following weapons have the Knockback perk, triggered by a critical hit only:

Shotguns (all types) have a chance for the knockback effect if target is 6 or less hexes away. The chance is 20% per bullet hit (e.g. 3-shot burst has 60% knockback chance, 5-shot 100%, 6-shot 100%):
