The Molotov Cocktail is an explosive throwing weapon composed of a bottle of flammable alcohol, stuffed with a rag, functioning as a wick.

Ground Fire

This is one of the weapons that does area-of-effect ground Fire damage. An entire area of the ground will burn for several seconds, and everyone standing in the fire will take Fire damage every second while it burns. The initial damage done by such a weapon is higher, based on the weapon's damage value, but targets also continue to take follow-up Fire damage as the fire continues. Even in cases where the initial damage does not kill an enemy, they can die from follow-up damage if they stand there in the fire continuing to shoot at you. Even a melee enemy might have to run through the fire to reach you, so they too take more damage. Weapons like this are excellent where your targets are all grouped up, and just one throw can do damage to all targets at the same time, especially since most targets do not have superior resistance to fire.

NOTE: The Pyromaniac perk will enhance initial damage only from such weapons, but not follow-up Fire damage.
