The Skilldex is one of the benefits of being from a vault, and thus having a Pip-Boy. The Skilldex is your quick-menu of the most-used Skills. It can be opened by either:
- Selecting the "Vault Boy" face icon when you click-hold on a Character or any usable item, or
- Click the right-most big red round button on your HUD, located just over your Hit Points:
The Skilldex menu lists these 8 primary Skills, and each one can be used without even opening the Skilldex menu, by pressing a hard-coded Hot Key:
- Sneak, alternately activated by pressing 1
- Lockpick, alternately activated by pressing 2
- Steal, alternately activated by pressing 3
- Traps, alternately activated by pressing 4
- First Aid, alternately activated by pressing 5
- Doctor, alternately activated by pressing 6
- Science, alternately activated by pressing 7
- Repair, alternately activated by pressing 8
Examples of How to Use
- If you're hurt, you can press 5 and click your own Character to attempt First Aid on yourself.
- If your friend is knocked out in combat, press 6 and click him to attempt to revive him immediately.
- If you find bear traps, press 4 and click a trap to attempt to disarm it.
- If you need to get beyond an energy door, press 7 or 8 to attempt to disrupt the door.
