The difference between the random roll result and your to-hit is integer-divided by 10 then added to your critical chance. Critical Chance is the probability of scoring a Critical Hit on a target.
The chance to hit a target at all is called Hit Chance.
Calculating Critical Chance
- Basic critical chance equals your Luck.
- Add 10% if you take Finesse
- Add 5% for More Critical
- Add 10% for Even More Criticals
- Add up to 60% for Aimed Attacks (depends on aimed body part and Luck)
- Add up to 5% from crafted weapon
It is possible to build a character whose critical chance would be 95% with an aimed attack. Such characters are usually supposed to be "cripplers".
Related Perks and Traits
- More Critical +5%
- Even More Criticals +10%
- Close Combat Master +15%
- Silent Death 100% chance to score a critical hit if sneaked and attacked from behind
- Sharpshooter deducts 50% from critical modifiers of any helmet that is worn by the person you are currently attacking
- Bonehead -10 penalty on the attacker's critical hit roll whenever the head or eyes of a player who has the trait are targeted
- Finesse +10% to Critical Chance, but +30% to your target's DR
- Man of Steel +10 critical resistance
Note: The related perk Better Criticals only affects how a successful critical would hit on the target (gives you a better chance of crippling, knocking down, etc...), but it doesn't affect your critical chance.

Note: formula for critical chance from S2 combat.fos:
chance = cr.Stat[ST_CRITICAL_CHANCE] + margin / 10 + (GetHitAim(aim) * (60 + 4 * cr.Stat[ST_LUCK])) / 100
cr.Stat[ST_CRITICAL_CHANCE]is the crit chance you see in your character info (press "c").marginis the "hidden" bonus chance to crit mentioned in the Player Notes above.GetHitAim(aim)handles the bonus for where you aim at.- Critical chance Modifiers from Weapons, Armors and Close Combat Master are applied afterwards.
