People in various towns are having trouble getting items, so you can help them for a small reward. Since in order to get level 2 you need only 3000 experience doing all this mini quests at start is a fine way to level-up your secondary crafter or other support character. When delivering the quest items to non-protected city make sure that there is no Player killers nearby.
You can bring:
- A shovel for Dan the Luckless Loser in Redding, Hub and Gecko.
- Booze for April in New Reno, Den and Vault City (need at least 6 (?) charisma)
- 2 radscorpion tails for Mark in Modoc and Junktown.
- 2 pieces of junk for Emma in NCR, Boneyard and San Francisco.

- 100 xp
- Hatchet, Sledgehammer or Knife
