Packing Light

Drop all extra items at your tent, but bring all of your Caps (you need 17k or more), and only: Spiked Knuckles in Slot 1, a Radio in Slot 2, a full Water Bag, a Hatchet, a Tool, your best Knife, and several Beers. Bring 20 Meat if you have them, but don't let this delay your trip. By now you should be wearing a Leather Helmet and Leather Armor. Let's go!

Necropolis

Head straight east to Necropolis, and enter Motel. Speak with Thrane. He has a long dialogue and sometimes he walks away which ends the conversation prematurely. Start it again and keep trying until you finish it normally. You'll know if it worked when you get XP.

◄Welcome to Level 11! Distribute Skill Points to make Traps 50, Doctor 52 from 50, and Close Combat 146 from 140.

Go inside and give 34 Nuka-Colas to Krieger. Exit and re-enter Necropolis via Watershed. Run up the street to the manhole cover. Go down the ladder and beat all of the sewer rats. Return to the street and run in to speak with Elmer. He gives you a Tape. Read that to update your Pip-Boy with his message to Skeeter. Now run to the back of this building, into one of the small rooms. Find the ladder down. Go down to bottom level, into vault, and use elevator to get to Level 3. On Level 3, run to the working computer, insert your Pip-Boy and run the vemxp.exe program. Wait a while (keep pressing 1) for the "user interface to load", and eventually something happens. You're not sure what, but someone taps you on the shoulder and runs away. You have to follow him!

Outside

Exit Necropolis and chase down the guy who you suspect murdered your friend. He's waiting to ambush you just outside of town. Go there and he tries to clobber you. Defeat him easily with your Heavy Handed punches, and exit. Hike 12 Zones north by 3 Zones east to find Vault 15. Drink a beer if you have any left, and enter. Defeat the cave rats, and access the working terminal just inside the vault entrance. Use Science skill on certain computers there to get some Electronic Parts. No need to use the elevator. exit when done, and exit to The World map again.

◄Welcome to Level 12! Choose Lifegiver, and distribute Skill Points to make Doctor 92 from 52.

Shady Sands

Head 5 Zones straight west to Shady Sands. Enter the town and speak first with Iguana Mikey about your quest to find Pete's son. Then talk to Buster next-door to get some work for him. Then find Thirsty Ronald behind Buster's tent, and give him some water. Next, run down toward the town gate and into the Rawhide Saloon. Speak with Nora about delivering a letter, with Mira about Buster's job, with Mira again about paying back a debt, and finally with Lenny about Son of Bob. (Get the dialogue with Lenny right or that quest fails.)

Then run into town through the gate and straight east into the water pump building. Talk with Dorothy twice to deliver Nora's letter. Next run west to the medical research building and speak with Dr Henry about a deal with Doc Jubilee. Go straight to Dusty's Cantina and talk to Dusty to pay back Mira's debt. Ask him what's on the menu and eat some food. Run over to the hospital and talk with Doc Jubilee about the deal with Dr Henry.

Report back to Dr Henry about the deal. Report back to Mira about the debt. Report back to Nora about the letter. Report back to Buster about the smokes.

Exit Shady Sands and go to Train Station nearby. Cross the train tracks and speak with the Ranger Captain. Get his dialogue right and you get some shiny new armor. Put on that armor, and exit back to The World map.

Broken Hills

Travel to Zone 29:17 to find the next town, Broken Hills. Press C to open your Character screen and note your Carry Weight limit. Now enter the town and go into the bar to talk with Francis to get the Strong Back Support Perk. Note your Carry Weight limit just permanently increased.

Vault City/Gecko

Exit Broken Hills and start heading north 11 zones to Vault City. Go into the clinic, get the Medical Investigation quest from Doctor Andrew.

During daylight hours (check Pip-Boy), get a Day Pass, and access the terminal in the small Information Center. You may have to wait until morning if you're there in the middle of the night, so Scavenge or take a break.

Go north 2 zones to Gecko, enter Scrapyard, talk with Skeeter twice: about Elmer (read the data tape), and about a part for your Vault. Re-enter Gecko main, run into The Harp bar and buy 1 Roentgen Rum from Wooz. Exit town, enter Vault City's Train Station, buy 3 tickets, wait for/board train to Shady Sands (NCR). You may have to wait a while for the train. If you have time, talk with 4 people there as part of this quest.

The Train

When you arrive in NCR Train Station, hurry in talking with 4 people about the Medical Investigation, and board train to Boneyard. At Boneyard Train Station, hurry in talking with 4 people, and board train to San Francisco. At San Fran Train Station, talk with 4 people, and then exit to map, enter town via Tanker entrance. Run into the bar and talk with Charlie about the Wasteland Band, and exit to map. Travel east past the mining site nearby, and move 7 zones north by 2 east to Gordon's Gas Station. Enter Gordon's place and talk with Tamira to get Ranger perk, then exit to map.

Redding

From Gordon's Gas Station, head straight north 7 zones to Redding and enter town via the Mine entrance. Find a Mysterious Stranger in a tent nearby and deliver the part, exit to map.

From the tent, go to the Last Gasp Saloon and speak with Josh about how to bury people properly. Go next-door and talk with Dangerous Dan McGrew to get the Pack Rat Support Perk.

The Den

From Redding, travel diagonally northwest 5 zones to Den, find a random place near to the town, and build your next tent. Notice that your tent is really a Safe House with a workbench. Add 3 Wood to the fire to upgrade it. Exit your Safe House and enter the town via East Side, go into Mom's Diner and ask Mom what's on the menu. Eat some bar food.

Klamath

From Den, exit to map, and move 3 zones diagonally northwest to find Klamath. Enter Trapper Town and run up to the trappers near the burning barrel. Ask a child there about the Light Step perk. Run south through the building and speak with Meloy inside to get Toxic Caves location, but exit dialogue early - before you get the tanker quest.

Modoc

From Den, head straight back toward Vault City. Find Modoc, and have Grisham exchange 20 Meat for 10 Jerky.

Return to Vault City

If you did not talk with 4 people at the Vault City Train Station, go there and do that next. Return to the clinic in Vault City, and complete the Medical Investigation. Careful to follow their strict daytime-only rules, use your Day Pass to enter the gate in Vault City again. If it's a long way to daytime, go search bookshelves in Gecko and sell items between there and VCity. When you can get in, find Councilwoman McClaire in the FLC bank and dialogue about the main quest. While you're in Vault City, check a few vendors (including the bar) for 50 rounds of both .223 FMJ, and 10mm JHP ammo.

New Reno

From Vault City, travel southwest to New Reno in Zone 20:18. Enter 2nd Street and go into the Shark's Club. Inside the Shark's Club, use the stairs to go up 2 floors, talk with Bishop, then exit Reno to map. Re-enter Reno via the Gas Station, go into garage building, find T-Ray and buy a Buggy vehicle. Click car to exit town. Drive west into desert to new map location, and park car nearby. Drink a beer if you have one, arm best HtH weapon to Slot 1. Go into quest location and defeat your enemies.

Back to Hub

It's time to head home. Return to Buggy, and drive back to Hub, park at your Hub tent. Enter Hub via main entrance, go to church and report to Fr O'Shaughnessy.

Exit Hub, head northwest a few zones to Junktown mine, and use your new tent to build a Safe House next to it. Exit to map, head over to Necropolis, enter Watershed and report to Elmer. Go back to Hub, enter Hub's Market, go into bar and talk again with Mick about the band.

The Heist

Enter The Heights in Hub and pay the initiation fee to join the gang. Recruit 4 Street Punks for them. Use gecko pelts and fiber to craft 3 more leather jackets if necessary. Find "street punks" in alleys in Old Town, Water Merchants, and Market, and find one under the Maltese Falcon. Talk to each one twice to get the right dialogue option. Report back to gang leader 1100xp and get next task to bribe the police with 1200 Caps. Tell Johnny you have the money, and go to Sheriff Hayden and hand him the bribery money. Report to Johnny and get next task to provide the weapons and ammo for their heist. The last thing to get for the gang to run their heist might be the .223 FMJ ammo. Find some for sale by any of the area vendors: Jacob, Beth, Mitch, Taylor, GR, Salvagers. Alternately, watch out for anyone selling Advanced Gunpowder so you can craft your own .223 FMJ. Return to your tent or car, gather up all the gear for the gang to do their heist, and go to Hub Heights. Tell Johnny you have all the weapons and ammo they need. Run the heist starting the tactical phase of the plan. Talk to the gang members and assign each of them to a role.

Hub Chef

After the heist, get the right materials:

  • 10x Meat Jerky
  • 5x Iguana-on-a-stick
  • 12x Broc Flower
  • 6x Xander Root
  • 3x Fruit
  • 1x Roentgen Rum
  • 2x Filled Water Bags

Go into the Hub Post Office and speak with the Hub Chef about You Call This Soup?.

◄Welcome to Level 15! Choose In Your Face!, and distribute Skill Points to make Close Combat 170 from 160, and Small Guns ?? from ??.

-Strip down to car key, radio, spiked knuckles, and Tool. Go to Water Merchants and speak with Mere to get repeatable job running water. Do water runs to next level.-
