I've accepted a contract with the Junktown Mine working as a scavenger. My first task is to bring them 50x Wood.

The Supervisor at Junktown's Quarry is always in need of supplies in order to mantain the mine and for future expansions. He's willing to offer a healthy amount of Caps to complete the job. It'll require quite a few resources though. Moreover, he needs each type one at a time (with one exception) and in order.

Requirements

None, but having good Scavenging and Science Skills would help a lot. It would also be better to take this job after gaining several Levels. Having decent combat skills, Outdoorsman, and Carry Weight would be a good idea too.

Walkthrough

To complete this job, you'll have to bring the Supervisor the following resources:

You can collect resources in advance and store them elsewhere, but he will not take any of them out of order. For example, you cannot give him 15x Junk until you give him 50x Wood.

For the Wood, you'll need to chop down one fully-grown tree and partly cut another. Keep in mind all that Wood will be very heavy. For Junk, there is one area north northwest from here that has city tiles. This is the only area where Junk will sometimes naturally spawn. Don't forget that Scavenging is an option though, especially if you are skilled in it. Dismantling low-tier gear may also help get Junk. Broc Flowers, Xander Roots, Fibers, Flint, and Fruit all spawn naturally in desert tiles. Broc Flower, Xander Root, and Flint will usually give two when harvested, but may give more. You'll need to find three Fiber Plants in order to get enough Fibers, and four Apple Trees to get enough Fruit. Electronic Parts may be the most difficult resource to gather. You will need to use the Science skill on broken computers. The closet and safest area to do that is Vault 15 at the northeast, but it is a far trek. They can be scavenged, but the odds of finding them are not often. Dismantling stuff like Energy Weapons also has a chance to give Electronic Parts. If all else fails, there is always the shops at Junktown and The Hub to see if they have the resources you need for sale.

After giving the last item on the list, you will be rewarded 500 xp for each completed delivery for a total of 3000 xp. You will also gain 3000 Caps, two sets of bonuses, and a chance for an extra item on top of that. You'll also gain a fair amount of Reputation for several nearby areas as well as one point of Karma. He is pleased with your work and says you can return to do another contract whenever you want.

Hints

Good Scavenging or Science skills can make this job a lot easier. The latter can help with Dismantling gear for resources. Being good at Outdoorsman isn't as necessary, but would also be very benefical too if you have to trek far.

Be careful if you decide to do this job at a low Level or are unable to handle yourself in a fight. Searching in spots does not mean you won't end up encountering enemies, and there is a chance that you may spawn close to them. Don't risk your life over getting the next bit of resources you need.

If you have a Tent set up nearby, then you can store any extra resources you find there to make the trips less daunting. You can even just make a Tent and tear it down later if you don't plan to have a tent near Junktown, although it is recommended by some players as a good starting base.

If you have Strength under 5, then you'll be overweight when carrying the 50x Wood even if you leave everything behind but the Hatchet. It's recommended to just go just a very small distance from the Quarry, keep checking the same spot over and over until you find trees to cut, and then return to the Quarry with the Wood. This should minimize the chance of ending up in a hostile encounter while overweight.

There are some spots to scavenge at the Quarry to get some Junk quickly, but there are not a lot of them. You can also try Junktown to find more spots. Junk is one of the most common items to find from Scavenging, so even an average level in the skill can net you some Junk. However, there may be people already looking for resources themselves, especially at Junktown, so don't be surprised if you find some spots are already on cooldown.

Broc Flowers, Xander Roots, and Fibers are weightless, so feel free to get as much Fiber as you find while looking for other resources.

Electronic Parts, Flint, and Fruit are light, but they can add up towards being overweight quickly if you have a low Carry Weight.

Finding Electronic Parts will likely be the most difficult part of this whole job. Vault 15 is far, but it is the closest location. However, there are several Rats, Pigrats, and a few Molerats to take care of on the first floor. A lot of them may not seem like much, but they can quickly surround you to prevent escape if things go south. Moreover, if the broken computers on the first floor are on cooldown, then your only option in the area is to go down to the lower floors whre there are much more dangerous enemies. Dismantling or trading is probably the better option if you need Electronic Parts. However, if you are desperate, then be prepared and have plenty of healing items. A strong friend might also be a good idea in case there are other players inside. In any case, one broken computer should give you more than enough to fulfill the order.
