This weapon is in wide use all over the wasteland, and is a very good choice for both marksmen and bursters, with a truly superior 50-hex range and good damage. It benefits from the Long Range weapon perk which increases Hit Chance, and it has a large magazine that can hold 45 rounds of 5mm ammo, which comes in two varieties: JHP and AP. The Assault Rifle can burst 15 bullets at your target, for 6 AP. It can burst 3 times on a full magazine, but can be upgraded to the Assault Rifle (Exp. Mag.) which holds 60 rounds.
Other than the ultra-rare Gauss Rifle, there are two other Small Guns rifles with similar single-shot damage and range: the hunting rifle and sniper rifle, but neither of these can burst, making the Assault Rifle a superior weapon for general use. For snipers though, the Hunting Rifle has a bit lower range and lower damage, and the Sniper Rifle has a higher damage but only the same 50-hex range, and costs 1 AP more. Both of these have a much smaller mag size than the Assault Rifle.

- Crafting, with pro training and a Blueprint, purchased from Jacob in Hub for 25k Caps
- It can be upgraded to the Assault Rifle (Exp. Mag.) which hold more ammo

This weapon is also used by Robobrains in the Glow, and is used by ghouls in Gecko's reactor.
