You start this adventure having ducked a horrific sandstorm by taking cover in a sand hole under an old tent.

Exit the Tent

  • Use the ladder to climb up, and find the NPCs there under the tent. Talk with J.D. inside this Starting location.
  • Ask him where they're going, about Hub, and if you can travel with them. You get the quest to deliver a message. Your first quest!
  • Press P twice to open your Pip-Boy and see the quest: Hub: Far Go Scout
  • Also talk with Kris, the guy at the watering hole.
  • Get Kris talking about how to obtain water, and get your first 50 xp.
  • Grab the water bag from the ground near the water's edge, and exit this Starting location.

Welcome to the World Map!

  • You likely see Hub from where you start on the map. Before you take one step, read a few pointers here.
  • First note how many Hit Points you have starting out. You are too weak to take any big risks yet.
  • Press C and notice your gun skill is only 65. That's too low to use a gun yet. Try it; you miss a lot and your guns explode.
  • (You'll want to get your gun skill up to at least 120 before you pull any triggers.)
  • It's best to avoid all forced encounters for now. You'll be fighting soon, but not yet.
  • A safe place: You'll soon be building your first tent, a safe place to store your items.
  • For now, when you are forced into encounters, immediately run straight for the exit. Play it safe to just stay alive.
  • For now, your mission is to simply stay alive. Do not trust other players, and do not expect to win any fights yet. Even ants can kill you.

Start Getting XP

  • Start walking to Hub, and note the location of Hinkley along the way. It is a combat training site.
  • When you reach Hub, do not enter yet. Use the Town/World button to enter via Old Town.
  • Run south and find the "sad wife" inside where she lives. Talk with her about finding Joseph. Your 2nd quest!
  • Note the other building has a working still, for making Rot Gut. (The workbenches there do not work though.)
  • Run north and talk with Jacob the merchant about a deal with Gun Runners. Your 3rd quest!
  • Enter the building at the east end of the street. The workbench here works. You can use this later to craft stuff.
  • Note the workbench has a toolboard, which acts as a container. And note a guy there named Shadow.
  • Exit Old Town and you get your next 150 xp just for reaching the more populated part of Hub.
  • The Far Go Traders is right there, so go in and deliver that message from J.D. to Mitch to get 400 more xp!
  • (Note there are two different NPCs at Hub named Mitch. The other one is the short merchant.)
  • Exit the Far Go Traders and run west through the Market area into the bar, the Maltese Falcon.
  • Talk with Mick in the bar to get The Wasteland Band quest. Mick gives you some caps. Don't spend them. You need them for the quest.
  • You might have 600 xp now, including 150 from entering Hub and 50 from Kris at the Starting location.

Check Your Pip-Boy

Open your Pip-Boy (press P twice) and check which quests you have now. It should show these four:

Now let's make some easy xp. When you hit level 2, resist the urge to distribute your first Skill Points. Just wait.

A Humble Beginning

  • Run up the street and find the brahmin pens on the left. Get a shovel from Cleve (black guy in a red shirt) and agree to shovel poo.
  • Arm your shovel in slot 1 and now you can shovel poo in any cow pen by simply mousing over poo.
  • Never block a gate! You get some fast warnings a few times if you block gates and then the guards kill you.
  • Check the brahmin pens at Hub's main gate area. Watch for sneaky poo under the fence.
  • At 24 xp per poo, you can get to level 2 pretty fast. Other players do this too so poo might be scarce at Hub.
  • Move boxes too. Get this job from the box man (another black guy in a red shirt) near the caravan trailer.
  • Move 10 boxes from the cart into the hut nearby (just drop them on the floor inside) and talk to him again to get paid.
  • Hub is a popular place to hang out. Talk with players there to get info. Some will help. Some will not. But they all know stuff and you can learn even by simply listening to their conversations.

Now that's more poo than most players care to shovel but it helped you get to level 2.

Welcome to Level 2! Do not distribute your Skill Points yet. You'll get a free boost to Small Guns if you wait. Now let's see about those quests.

Your First Perk

  • (Depending on how you reach level 3, be prepared to choose Adrenaline Rush.)
  • (Also make sure you get Boneyard Guard before you distribute any Skill Points. See below.)
  • Go back to Cleve, the poo man down the street to get paid for whatever poo you shoveled.
  • Exit the city and note a new quest location on the map: A Tent in the Wasteland.
  • Remember: you're not fighting yet. You need to opt out of encounters and quickly exit the ones you're forced into. Stay alive!
  • Head south to Gun Runners but be careful! Boneyard is dangerous. Be ready to quickly exit forced encounters. You're in RT mode, right?
  • Enter Gun Runners, get 150 xp, run up into the main Gun Runners building and speak with Marshall (in Combat Armor) to get a perk.
  • Apply the Boneyard Guard support perk to your Small Guns skill to get a free boost. Nice.
  • Talk with him again to dialogue about one of your quests, the one for Jacob.
  • (Take the easiest dialogue options in this quest to avoid complications.)
  • (Note that short merchant at Gun Runners. His name is Ralph.)
  • Now that you got the Boneyard Guard perk, you can dump all of your Skill Points into Small Guns (110).
  • Before you exit Gun Runners, just look at all that poo! It's smells like...like...like xp.
  • If there is a lot of poo here, consider shoveling more. You can hit level 3 here in only a few minutes, though it's only 12 xp per poo at level 2.
  • Exit Gun Runners when done, and travel to New Adytum, just south.
  • Do not go to Warehouse yet. It's a very tough place to survive even for seasoned veterans.
  • Enter New Adytum and get another free 150 xp!
  • Speak with Dyer Greenberg, in Combat Armor. Ask him about Salvagers to get their location.
  • Back to map, head West to Salavagers and talk with the bald Regulator about Joseph. Sad news, but 500 xp.
  • Do not go to Crater yet. You will be radiated as soon as you enter.
  • As long as you're in Salvagers, you may as well move boxes, like in Hub, for caps. It's faster here and you get 300 xp.
  • Exit Salvagers and head back north to Hub. Enter Old Town and deliver the sad news to the sad wife. 250 xp.
  • Run north and talk with Jacob again about the deal with Gun Runners. You're not done with this quest just yet.

Welcome to level 3 and your first Perk! You will benefit greatly from the Adrenaline Rush perk. You can dump all of your Skill Points into Outdoorsman (94) this time and this will help you get your own workbenches and travel more safely.

Your First Caps and Skill Books

  • Get a small piece of paper and make 4 rows: Scouting on row 1, Science on row 2, Repair and Barter on rows 3 and 4.
  • Each time you read a skill book, put a hash mark in the proper place to keep track of how many books you read. 10 max for each.
  • (This will help keep you from wasting precious caps on books after you've already read 10 max for each type.)
  • Exit Hub and head north 4 zones to Junktown.
  • (There is an exit in the Market area below the Gun Store and the Iguana Bits vendor. Use F4 to toggle your HUD up and down to find it.)
  • Enter Junktown's north gate, ignore the warnings from the guards, and run west to find Ronnie near the boxing arena.
  • Talk with Ronnie about getting the band back together with Mick. 250 xp.
  • You're coming back to Junktown soon but exit for now and head 1 zone west to see the quarry on your map.
  • Go back to Hub, enter via Market, tell Mick in the bar the good news that Ronnie is on board. 450 xp.
  • (Mick needs you to find Charlie next, who is in San Francisco.)
  • As long as you're here, move boxes again to get a few more caps. You can buy a Scout book to boost OD.
  • (Moving boxes is a job with a timer, so if you made it back pretty fast, you won't be able to do this again just yet.)
  • Shoveling poo at this point is more about simply getting more caps. Books are expensive so shovel if you can.
  • Get paid for boxes and poo, then run south to Hub's market area into the book store.
  • Go into the book store, one of the four buildings in the middle of Hub's Market, above the FLC bank.
  • Talk with Mrs Stapleton to buy a Scout book. Read that book and your Outdoorsman should reach 102.
  • (You will read 9 more Scout books later for more boosts to your Outdoorsman skill.)
  • Run back up the street to the tent near the poo man, and talk with Dan to trade your shovel for a knife. 100 xp.
  • Run across the street into the corn fields and use the knife on certain stalks to get fiber. Nine of them produce fiber. Find them!
  • Gather a bunch of fibers, go to the workbench in Old Town and make some ropes for 5 xp each.
  • (Ropes are heavy. You may only be able to make 15 ropes before you are overloaded.)
  • Next, you can sell the rope at Beth's Gun Store in Hub's Market area. Get 100 caps each!
  • (Stepping through this guide while writing it, i was able to craft 60 ropes total and thus get 4 more Scout books.)
  • Now talk with the farmer standing there near the water pipe. He gives you a job to water the other farmers.
  • Click the water pipe to fill your water bag with water and go talk with a farmer.
  • Refill your water bag at the pipe each time and water 10 farmers to get paid. Some of them are across the street. 150 xp and 100 caps.
  • Exit Hub, head south to Gun Runners again to close the deal for Jacob.
  • You need those other Scout books asap so head over to Salvagers again and move boxes for a few more caps.
  • Run back up to Hub, enter Old Town and talk to Jacob to finish his quest. 750 xp!

Hopefully, you can be welcomed to level 4 by now. Distribute Skill Points: science (50) and Repair (27). You'll be able to get the Swift Learner perk and some crafting professions soon.

  • At Hub, talk with Mrs Stapleton in the bookstore and get Swift Learner.
  • Exit Hub to World Map. Let's go check out that tent in the wasteland.
  • The abandoned farmhouse is a few zones straight west. Find the BB Gun on the ground and kill the 12 rats. 960 xp.
  • You get some tools on this quest: shovel, hatchet, sledgehammer, knife. Report back to the farmer woman and get a tent!
  • Let's set that tent up next to Junktown Quarry and craft some new gear!
  • Bring your tent to a map location that is very close to the quarry, almost overlapping a bit.
  • That close to the quarry, snugged up next to it only a few pixels away, enter an unpopulated location on the map.
  • Use the folded tent there. Now you have a private place to store stuff and do basic crafting!
  • (This is a safe location that others cannot see. They can follow you there though so watch for others in your party.)
  • Now drop all your items there (use Control+G) and bring only a hatchet with you. Let's go get some wood to use for crafting.
  • Go a few pixels to the zone above the quarry, and enter unpopulated locations from the map until you find trees that can be cut.
  • (You'll know if they are the right kind of trees because you get a mouse-over indicator when you hold a hatchet in slot 1.)
  • (You may need to enter and re-enter from the world map before you find a suitable encounter with trees that can be cut.)
  • (As you exit encounters, always watch your text box. If other players are nearby, their names will show in red.)
  • Bring as much wood as you can carry back to your house and drop it on the floor at your workbench.
  • Use 3 wood on your fire pit to upgrade it to a Campfire. Rename your house to "JT Quarry".
  • Click the Campfire and choose Tent Management, Upgrades, Workbench.
  • Notice you can add a Primitive Workbench to your tent, which will be very convenient for basic crafting.
  • (To add a Primitive Workbench, you need a repair Tool.)
  • Press F to open Fix-Boy, scroll to bottom of list on page 2, and find Tool.
  • Note that to craft a basic repair Tool, you need to find some Flint and Junk first.
  • Drop your hatchet and don't bring anything this time. We're going to find some Junk nearby.
  • Go to zone 28:34, the closest city ruins, enter a random place there and find junk on the ground.
  • (Finding Junk with PE 1 is tougher but you only need a few). Gather some Junk and drop it back at your tent.
  • Go anywhere nearby and enter an empty encounter to find Flint on the ground. Return to your tent.
  • Drop the flint there and grab that Sledgehammer, go to the quarry next-door and mine some iron ore and minerals.
  • Bring materials back to tent. With some Iron Ore, Flint, and Junk, you can now craft a repair Tool.
  • Leave your hammer so you don't lose it. Find the workbench in Junktown (or use Hub) to craft your Tool. 120 xp.
  • With your new repair Tool, go back to your tent and get the Primitive Workbench upgrade.
  • Now you can craft more things, which will be great for xp.
  • Let's craft some ammo and get some xp! Grab your sledgehammer and go back to the quarry.
  • Bring back some iron and minerals to your workbench and craft Metal Parts and Gunpowder.
  • Use the materials to craft 12 gauge shotgun ammo at Junktown. Keep making ammo until you hit level 5.

Welcome to level 5. Distribute Skill Points into Repair. It's not 50 yet but it will be soon, and then you can start crafting Combat Shotguns and go hunting.

  • Mine some more and keep crafting ammo to reach level 6. You're going to need that ammo soon.

Welcome to level 6 and your second Perk! You will benefit greatly from basic Toughness. Distribute Skill Points into Repair (50) and have some leftover for later.

  • Do whatever you have to do to get 1500 caps and bring them to Boyce at Junktown near the Workbench.
  • (Sell ammo if you have to.) Pay for Small Guns 1 Professional training, so you can craft some good gear.
  • Notice that Boyce gives you a Skill Book. Read it to get a small boost to Small Guns.
  • Now open Fix-Boy and figure out what you need to craft 6 or 7 Combat Shotguns at Junktown.
  • Mine to get enough alloys to make those guns. Notice some of your crafted guns might have bonus stats!
  • Pick the best gun to keep for yourself and take the rest to Hub to sell at the General Store.
  • Keep your gun, 100 rounds of ammo, and 500 caps. Drop the rest at your tent. Let's go to Necropolis.
  • Go east from Hub to Necropolis. Watch out for dangerous encounters along the way - avoid them for now.
  • When you reach Necropolis, enter via Watershed, run up to the manhole cover and use it to go under the street.
  • There are some rats down here. Kill them all and get over 1000 xp.
  • Go back up and into the main building. Talk with Elmer the Ghoul about a message quest.
  • Elmer gives you a holotape. Use the tape to upload it to your Pip-Boy Archives, and read it.
  • Drop the tape off at your tent and go north to Shady Sands, aka NCR.
  • Enter Shady Sands and go into the Guns tent inside the main gate. 150 xp. Talk with Buster about some work.
  • Run past the Holding Center fence and go into the Rawhide Saloon. Talk to Mira the bartender twice to get another job and Buster's smokes.
  • Now run into the main street past the security gate and read the billboard. Take a note about a job for Westin.
  • Keep running straight down the main street and go into Dusty's Cantina.
  • Talk with the bartender to return Mira's debt for her. Hand him the money and head out.
  • Run back up the street and turn left to find the entrance to the Westin Ranch, protected by an energy fence.
  • Talk to the guard to get in, using the job offer as a legitimate reason.
  • Go inside the main building and speak with Mr Westin. He's at his desk, under a cross on the wall.
  • Talk with Felix, the guy just outside the door there. You'll be automatically led to the the brahmin pasture. 150 xp.
  • Go over to the rocks to the east and wait near there for the children to arrive.
  • When the kids arrive, tell them they are making the animals nervous and get them to stop. Another 150 xp
  • Go back in to NCR and give the smokes to Buster. 880 xp. Put on that black leather jacket. Cool!
  • Run back to the Rawhide Saloon and confirm with Mira that you paid her debt back. 825 xp

Welcome to level 7. Distribute Skill Points into Repair (50) and have some leftover for later.

  • Run north past the old wrecked cars to exit Shady Sands, stopping on the way to meet Ratch and Vortis.
  • PROGRESS STATUS: Being Re-Written...
  • soon
  • Exit and head west to the Boneyard Library. Get a job as a hit man from Hammilton. This uncovers the train station nearby.
  • (As a white knight, you already know you're not going to murder Hammilton's target, but you might help him escape!)
  • Exit to map again and now you see the Boneyard Train Station. Go there and buy a ticket. 150 xp.
  • (Notice there is a merchant here. You'll be trading with Tine later.)
  • Talk to 4 people there and ask about a middle-aged man with black hair. The last one will have a clue.
  • You may have to wait a few minutes, but board the next train to San Francisco. (Not to NCR yet).
  • When you reach the San Fran Train Station (150 xp), talk to four people there about the man with black hair.
  • Exit the San Fran train station and walk to San Fran. Be careful! It's dangerous around here!
  • Enter San Fran via the Tanker. Run up into the bar and speak with Charlie about the band. 250 xp.
  • (On your way out of the Tanker, note the NPC merchants here. You'll be trading with them later.)
  • Find the stairway off the docks and exit San Fran via the west exit grid.
  • Be ready to run as you leave the San Fran area. Go northeast to find Gordon's Gas Station in zone 14:18, and get the Ranger perk.
  • With the Ranger perk, you get a Safe House with a workbench whenever you build a Tent!
  • Go 9 zones south from Gordon's, and head east until you reach Shady Sands (NCR).
  • soon
  • There's more to do at Shady Sands but later. For now, go back to the world map and head south back to Hub.
  • When you get back to Hub, enter via Oldtown. Talk with Jacob to finalize the deal with Gun Runners. 750 xp.
  • If you don't have fibers, get some more and craft more ropes at Hub's workbench in Old Town.
  • Sell some ropes, get some caps, and buy some Science and electronics books. You need to get your Science and Repair both to 50.
  • With Science 50, you get the Swift Learner perk from Mrs Stapleton in Hub's bookstore. Get that as soon as you can.
  • (Not enough caps for Science books yet? Find a way to get them asap. The sooner you get Swift Learner, the better.)
  • Head over to the Maltese Falcon bar and talk to Mick again about the band. 1150 xp.

Welcome to level 5! Get your Small Guns skill up to 113, Science to 50, and the rest into Doctor (23).

  • Exit Hub to World Map. Let's go check out that tent in the wasteland.
  • The abandoned farmhouse is a few zones straight west. Find the BB Gun on the ground and kill the 12 rats. 1056 xp.
  • You get some tools on this quest: shovel, hatchet, sledgehammer, knife. Report back to the farmer woman and get a tent!

Check Your Pip-Boy

Open your Pip-Boy (press P twice) and check your quest status. It should show these nine:

Getting Tougher

  • Let's set up that tent (as a Safe House) up next to Junktown Quarry and craft some new gear!
  • Bring your tent to a map location that is so close to the quarry that you could almost punch a miner from there.
  • That close to the quarry, snugged up next to it only a few pixels away, enter an unpopulated location on the map.
  • Use the folded tent there. Now you have a private Safe House with your own workbench!
  • Now let's switch tools. Drop your hatchet somewhere and bring only a sledgehammer to the quarry.
  • Bring back some iron and minerals to your workbench and craft Metal Parts and Gunpowder.
  • Use the materials to craft 12 gauge shotgun ammo. Keep making ammo until you hit level 6.

Welcome to level 6 and your next perk! Your character will greatly benefit from the Toughness perk but Quick Pockets is also popular especially if you plan to use bursting guns a lot. QP saves you a lot of Action Points in a fight against numerous enemies. Dump all 19 Skill Points into Doctor (44).

  • Mine and craft more ammo. Sell it at the General Store in Hub. Save up 1500 caps to pay for professional training.
  • Take 1500 caps into Junktown and pay Boyce to train you as a Small Guns gunsmith. He is near the workbench in Junktown.
  • You get a Skill Book when you get Small Guns training. Read it to get a boost to your Small Guns skill!
  • Head back to the quarry. Crafting is great for xp and caps. Let's make some Combat Shotguns!
  • Press F to open the Fix-Boy and check to see what is needed to craft your own Combat Shotguns.
  • Mine for a while and build a single pile of resources on the floor, in that hex where you craft.
  • Mine and craft metal parts, gunpowder, and alloys. Make some combat shotguns to take with you on your next walk north.
  • Recommended: craft combat shotguns until you have one with an Accuracy bonus. Stash any better ones for later.
  • It is also recommended that you craft some spare tools: hatchets, sledgehammers, and knives.
  • (If you lose your only tools, go into random, unpopulated map locations and find flint to make primitive tools until you make real tools again.)
  • Drop all tools and other items at your house, put on your leather jacket and get ready for a long walk on the map.
  • Bring 2 Combat Shotguns, 1000 rounds of ammo, 200 caps for train tickets, 24 wooden poles, 10 fibers, and a hatchet.
  • Go back to the Boneyard Train Station and ask 4 people about the shady man, if you have not already asked there.
  • Buy a ticket and board the train to NCR. Once at that train station, ask 4 more people about the shady man. 150 xp.
  • Buy another train ticket there and get on the train to Vault City. Once there, ask around about your target. 150 xp.
  • Exit the train station at Vault City, walk over to Vault City and enter.
  • Run into the clinic and talk with Dr Andrew about a Medical Investigation.
  • Now go inside the little hut by the brahmin pen, and use the workbench to craft a rope.
  • Exit Vault City and hike straight west to Modoc. Note the location of Ghost Farm.
  • (If necessary, you can do a very small amount of mining under Ghost Farm.)
  • You can find a lot of brahmin around Modoc. Hunt 8 brahmin to make another tent.
  • Only mess with brahmin-only encounters. Exit all other encounters for now. The materials you're carrying are too important to risk.
  • As soon as you have 8 brahmin hides, craft a folded tent and build another house by Modoc.
  • Use your new Modoc house as a staging point for crafting additional tents. Hunt brahmin. Craft tents to level 7.

Welcome to level 7! Distribute Skill Points: Small Guns 121, Outdoorsman 120.

  • Keep hunting brahmin, getting hides, and craft tents until you have 8 more tents ready.

Welcome to level 8! Distribute Skill Points: Outdoorsman 136.

Getting Even Tougher

  • Once you have 8 tents ready to go, shed as much weight as needed so that you can carry 4 of them, with 12 wood.
  • Head straight west to Klamath and avoid all encounters on the way. You'll likely find Den nearby too.
  • Find Klamath mine and set up one of the tents there like you did next to Junktown quarry.
  • Use 3 wood on the fire to upgrade it to a Safe House, and rename it to "Klamath Mine".
  • Drop all belongings on the ground at your new Klamath house, and run naked blue over to Klamath.
  • Check to see if there is any player or faction activity in Klamath. If not, proceed.
  • Enter Klamath via the Trapper Town area, and run northeast up around the corner of the fence, into the main big building there.
  • Run up through the building, out of the north door and head north to the burning barrel.
  • One of the men here is a trapper who will teach you the Gecko Skinning perk!
  • Run back down into the same building, but stop to talk with Meloy. Get him to tell you the location of Toxic Caves.
  • Exit Klamath the same way you entered, and go back to your Klamath house, and re-gear. Grab those other tents and wood.
  • Walking in a straight line from Klamath to Den, keep going on that line until you reach Redding.
  • Use another tent next to Redding and upgrade the fire with 3 wood. Rename it to "Redding".
  • Drop all items and go naked blue over to Redding. Check for player/faction activity. If none, proceed.
  • Enter Redding via the mine, run straight west into the blah and talk with Dangerous Dan. 150 xp.
  • Dan teaches you to be a Pack Rat, which increases your Carry Weight. This sure will come in handy.
  • Go back to your Redding house, pick up all items and head out straight west until you're in zone 28:11.
  • Turn straight south and walk south until you find Broken Hills. Use your next tent next to the city.
  • Rename it to "Broken Hills" and drop all items on the ground there. Walk naked blue over to the city.
  • Make sure there is no player/faction activity there at that time. If it's clear, enter via the main entrance.
  • Run east up the street into the 2nd building on your right, just under the well. Get close to find the door.
  • Go in there and talk with Francis, the supermutant who will teach you the Strong Back perk for another boost to your CW.
  • Do not delay here; exit Broken Hills, go back to your newest house and grab all items.
  • Head south toward Shady Sands with a tent, and find the NCR quarry in zone 32:28. Build a house there and rename it.
  • Info from the last train station about the shady man pointed you back to NCR train station. Go there and find him.
  • Get the shady man to tell you where the target is hiding. Turns out, your target has a child.
  • Exit the train station, and go to the hideout. Talk with Greg. You're one of the good-guys, right? Let him go and see what happens.
  • Exit Greg's hideout. You want to set up those other tents soon but first let's take another run at that mine.
  • Your increased Carry Weight will serve you well when mining. Bring some iron and minerals back to your house there.
  • Make mostly metal parts and gunpowder, but some alloys too, and craft more combat shotguns. Craft to level 9.

Welcome to level 9! What a great day. Choose Even Tougher. Distribute Skill Points: Outdoorsman 150.

  • The Even Tougher perk is important. While you still lack Hit Points, you can now absorb some decent damage and maybe survive.
  • Take a break from mining, grab a few guns, some ammo and let's go fight the Black Claw Scorpions.
  • Enter Junktown's south gate and talk with Doc Larrikin in the clinic to get this quest.
  • Go back to the map and find the scorpion cave nearby.
  • Do not get stung by these monsters! Their poison is far more intense than most. Kill all 13. 780 xp.
  • Check the scorpions to gather their eggs. You should find 8 eggs total.
  • (Note your current resistance to poison is 50% and to radiation is 20%.)
  • Bring the eggs back to Doc Larrikin. 1250 xp and 400 caps. Ask him about the venom to get the Snakeater perk. 450 xp.
  • Drop off the extra eggs at your House.
  • Now check your resistances again: poison is now up to 80% and radiation is now 40%. Nice.
  • Let's sell some of what you just crafted, get some caps and go finish those tents.
  • REWORK IN PROGRESS
  • At some point, drop everything and run naked blue to zone 28:34. Collect junk there and bring back to your house.
  • (Junk collecting sucks. It's heavy, it's hard to spot, and PKs hunt you there. You need junk though so...)
  • Use junk to craft extended magazines to improve your Desert Eagles, and to make some 40mm grenade ammo.
  • You could go haywire crafting stuff. Stick to ammo and tier 1 guns now that you have a profession.
  • Keep the guns with bonus stats, and sell the rest for caps. Use the caps to buy more Books.
  • Keep mining and crafting, selling and saving caps until you're close to level 7 which won't be long.

A Quick Check

You might not be level 7 at this point. If not, do some more crafting to get there. If your skills are not as high as what is shown above, it might simply mean I read more skill books than you by this time. Sell some crafted items and buy whatever books you need. And get ready for more...

  • REWORK IN PROGRESS
  • Re-enter San Fran's main gate.
  • Run north to the Archway exit grid which leads to the science lab.
  • Get a tough job to kill ants from Dr Wong Yi Tze. This will be a tough fight against a bunch of ants.
  • Exit San Fran and find the ant lair on the map not far away. Go there and be ready to enter and exit again quickly.
  • (On your way to the ant lair, note the location of the San Fran mine.)
  • To beat the ants, use guerrilla hit-n-run tactics. They will swarm you if you let them, so kill 1 or 2 and exit.
  • You might need 50 rounds of ammo to do this, accounting for some misses.
  • (Your gun skill is only 110 which is low, so don't waste Action Points on long range shots.)
  • (If you no longer have any small gun to use, you'll need to go arm yourself first and come back.)
  • When you beat the ants...
  • Head back to Dr Wong in San Fran to get paid for killing the ants. 250 xp.
  • Go back to the San Fran Train Station, get a ticket and board the train back to Boneyard.
