STATUS: QUEST IS BROKEN. Spore Plants do not appear in the cave, so without being able to kill them, you cannot solve the problem or thus get completion dialogue with Patrick. You can, however, access the cellar, fight rats, get some loot items, and exit.
Name of quest in Pip-Boy: Explore the Cathedral Cellar
Talk with Nervous Patrick inside the Cathedral temple to get this quest. Kill all the rats and other hostiles inside then loot the place. Once done inside, go back to Patrick to complete the quest. (It is not known if the rare temple Key can be used anywhere.) There are two keys, both open the same trap door. One is on a glowing ghoul. The other key is on a rat.
NOTE: This is a solo quest, so you cannot bring friends along. Once you finish it, you can't go back in the basement, so be sure you have searched it well. You can leave the cellar during the quest and return via dialogue with Patrick again, but access to the cellar ends once you complete the quest.
NOTE: The Spore Plants you need to kill in the cave are not spawning anymore, possibly due to the removal of 3D critters which preceded them (see: [[1]] and [[2]]), so this quest is apparently BROKEN.

| There are three basement levels counting the cave level at the bottom where the source of the problem lies, so keep looking if you don't see the way down each time. Watch out for tougher rats! These are Brain Varmin and they can kill you faster than you think. You do not have to kill the "crazy monk" on the bottom level to complete this quest - only the Spore Plants (formerly 3D Venus Mantraps). Be sure to check the container down there. |

- A few miscellaneous items, like Zip Gun and some few valuable items, including a Motion Sensor
- Some rats may drop a special Temple key for an undocumented hyper rare Special Encounter (not confirmed)
