History
New Reno was built on the ashes of Reno, Nevada. The town was spared from the atomic fire during the war, but fell on the dark side of life. Drugs, alcohol and prostitution have made New Reno a dark, smelly place for Gambling. Law, rules and police were eliminated by the atomic war, and a few mobster families still struggle to this day to get power over the town:
- The Wrights mainly sell alcohol, and can direct you to Sierra Army Depot
- The Mordino Family distriubute Jet all over the wasteland. They know many Raiders, and own the Desperados casino
- The Salvatores sometimes secretly deal with the Enclave, and run the Salvatores Bar
- The Bishops own the Shark Club casino.
Description
New Reno is located in the middle of the map. It is not a guarded town, and has been a hot spot for freestyle PvP, though it is not part of the Town Control system. Sometimes PKs camp the Exit Grids to shoot at anyone appearing, just to make the streets more bloody. Unchecked killing in the streets can make this town a uniquely attractive place for PvP activity for both solo adventurers and organized teams. You can find a mixture of solo travelers looking for quests, unwary and curious adventurers, business-oriented players stopping to trade with Merchants on a Barter run, and hardcore killers preying on them all. A few stores are opened in the city, like New Reno Arms run by Eldridge, a drug store run by Renesco, the Gas Station run by T-Ray, the Cat's Paw Brothel, the Golden Globes porn studios and the Jungle Gym boxing club. There is a basement level under New Reno Arms, and an entire sewer system under the town, but beware going to either of these places - they are populated by hostiles who are highly capable of defending their turf, and always seem to do a lot of crit damage.
Activities
- Join a crime family and participate in Gang Wars!
- New Reno contains some quests.
- There is also a workbench inside Eldridge's shop (West side).
- New Reno is one place where you can buy certain cars. They can be bought from T-Ray, who is located in the Gas Station Garage area.
- You can get copies of your keys made by T-Ray for 1000 caps each.
- You can buy the Rot Gut Engine Upgrade from T-Ray (prices vary).
- You can make beer at the Brewerage Device on the east side.
- You can trade with a lot of merchants, like Eldridge and Renesco in the West Side, the bartenders of the two casinos, and the usual city dealers.
- You can join one of the mob families, but your reputation with other factions will suffer.
- You can explore the sewers under New Reno and use them to move throughout the different sections of the city. There is loot, but bring good Lockpick skill. One locker won't open until all defenders there are dead.
- Fr Tully is manning his station in the Commercial Row chapel
- You can join various caravans as a guard.
- Buy Empty Hypodermic needles from Jules, a street merchant near the main entrance.
